2014 Events
With the support of iPraxis and Harriton Science Club, Science Synergy hosted two events in 2014: Science Day and the Science Synergy Invitational. At Science Day, Harriton students set up booths to perform STEM demonstrations to people of all ages of the Philadelphia community. Its purpose was to excite students about science, and encourage them to attend future Science Synergy events, such as the later Science Synergy Invitational competition. The Science Synergy Invitational competition, on the other hand, was a competition designed for Middle School students that engaged participants in various fun, STEM-related activities. Both events were a great success! According to Rhonda Feder, the Northwood Academy Charter Science Support teacher, all middle schools students who attended the Science Day in January signed up for the Science Synergy competition in June! Additionally, at the conclusion of the Science Synergy Invitational award ceremony, participants asked for more Science Synergy Invitational competitions next year, as well as in high school!
It was very rewarding to see the involvement of many students and parents in Science Synergy's STEM activities, particularly the strong participation of girls!
